Blanket Statement

Lately, I have been very stressed at work. Like, I come home and take a nap but end up waking up at 2am. Oops. Especially with the cooler weather rolling in, nothing feels better than turning into a couch potato.

One of my favorite things is just leaning back into my recliner seat and burrito-ing myself with a fuzzy blanket. I'm a sucker for soft things. Everytime I walk by a fuzzy sweater or blanket at a store, I. Must. Touch. Pre-COVID, I would even occasionally treat myself to a face nuzzle (please don't judge). Naturally, I have built up a good sized blanket collection! And obvi I need them all. They've even come in handy for when my friends slept over. Since I have too many blankets to count, I have taken the liberty to pull all the ones by my living room and model them on Kirby (bless his heart).

West Elm Herringbone Throw

Rating: D+

Honestly, if this blanket didn't look so cute, it would be trash. I love how the tassels at the end contrast with the gray, and the chevron pattern gives it a nice looking texture. However, I pretty much only use it has a piece of room decor thrown over a chair. It is the scratchiest blanket I've ever felt and nobody deserves the pain of being under that (sorry Kirby). The "tassels" at the end straight up look and feel really matted. Gross.

Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Blanket

Rating: B+

If I were still in school and brought this blanket into class, my popularity would skyrocket. This blanket is the favorite whenever I have guests around. One of my friends liked it so much I got her one for Christmas, and she uses it all the time. A lot of YouTubers rave about it, especially during the Nordstrom anniversary sale. I found mine at Nordstrom Rack. Keep in mind, it is a bit of a splurge, but it is made of this super thick cloud-like material that feels like it will last. It's also super stretchy, so even if it's a little short, I am still able to stretch it over my feet. Personally, I can only use it when I'm feeling cold though because it gets really hot underneath and I always run warm. Team Jacob, anyone?

West Elm Coziest Solid Throw

Rating: B-

After the Barefoot Dreams blanket, I was on a mission to find the perfect blanket to use year-round. I love the contemporary style of West Elm, so I'm always going through their sales to see what I can score at a discount. I came across this blanket and I like the neutral color and how soft it looks. Overall, it does the job, but it's kinda meh. It's tissue-paper-thin and is pretty soft to the touch, but it's not cozy enough, ya know? I can wrap myself around it, but then it just feels like I'm a literal burrito wrapped in thin-ass aluminum foil. I wanna feel like a corn dog instead. Am I making sense? Am I weird?

We Are Knitters Dragonfly XXL Blanket

Rating: A

Forget about what I said about that other blanket being a splurge. This one takes the cake at over a hundred dollars 🤑. However, I actually forgot that it cost me a month's worth of groceries, because it has been such a good investment. I would recommend We Are Knitters as a company in general for anybody looking for a new hobby or learning how to knit. This came in a kit with balls of yarn, knitting needles, instructions, and cute stickers! I'm a sucker for cute stickers. It took me a few weeks to knit because it's a pretty large blanket and I had to redo some parts. Not gonna lie, it looks like shit. There's random large holes in it and also knots from who knows what. But hey, I can only blame my inexperience in knitting for that. It's kinda got a certain charm to it though, and it's become pretty sentimental. The material is pretty substantial, but because it's a looser knit blanket, I can still use it during the summertime. It's not the softest, but the stretchiness somehow makes it seem very cozy.

Life Comfort Urban Plush Throw

Rating: A-

Soooo this blanket isn't actually mine. It's my roommate's, but I'll use it every now and then when I need something super soft and cuddly (sorry you had to find out this way, Steph 🤫) It's definitely meant for colder weather, and it's so soft I can face nuzzle it all day. It was one of our best Costco finds, and unfortunately they don't make this one anymore, but you can find a similar style there. Personally, I would've gone for another color, but it's so cozy I will still use it. The size is good because you can pull it up to your chin and still have room to tuck it under your feet. Perfect for those couch potato days.

All in all, I'm not too picky with blankets, especially since I'm a sucker for soft things. But, if you're a blanket and not soft, sorry to say, but you don't deserve blanket status. Unless you're a picnic blanket or something. I don't know. Those are borderline tablecloths. K bye 👋
