Happy New Year! 🥂 Let's hope 2021 looks a little better, and we can eventually go outside and do things. Like our nails.

TBH, I've never really been conscious of my nails. Normally, I let my painted nails chip until I need to cut them. They would get so nasty looking, but who cares? Not me. Until this year.

Believe it or not, this is pretty typical... 🤷🏻‍♀️

I didn't start paying attention to my nails until my coworkers would comment on them. Weirdly though, they are all men. I only say it's weird because they apparently care about my nails more than I do? Whatever. It gives me the motivation to care a little bit more I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️

Interestingly enough, I would also get the most compliments on my nails the day after I did them, especially when I used the cool designs from Color Street. Somebody from work asked how I got my nails done with the salons closed. I said I didn't - I did them myself!

One year ago 🥂 Aren't these cool???

Color Street Nail Strips

Rating: B+

We Summarize Things

Really easy application and long lasting if you're careful about them, but you will be left with a pile of trash.

As you can see in the photos above, I have been using Color Street nail strips for over a year now. I love how they release seasonal designs and range from solid colors to glittery intricate designs. My favorite ones are the French manicure ones and the fancy designs that are glittery and/or ombre. I just placed a pretty big order this week. Prices average around $12-13 per set, but they also have some BOGO deals. I ended up with 6 sets totaling about $61.

This week, for new year's, I decided to do a set that has metallic gold with crackle accent nails.

I got these from my roommate's friend. You can purchase nail strips by clicking this photo.

Some of the sets come in smaller packaging, but this one was really big. Not sure if they're categorized differently, but it seemed like a waste of space. Each set comes with a prep pad to clean your nails beforehand and a nail file to prep and also file off the excess after you apply each strip.

Application

The application process is really really easy. I usually do them in bed 😂 but be careful though! Each nail strip has a plastic backing and a protective layer, and you will be left with a lot of waste at the end. I think the trash leftover is the biggest pain because if you don't contain it they can get everywhere.

Because I like to keep my nails short, I can use one strip for two nails. You're not supposed to do this, but I usually save the leftover strips for another time by putting them back in the plastic packaging and passing a flatiron across the top to seal it for later. The nail strips are made of real nail polish, so they will dry with prolonged exposure to air.

The aftermath.

Longevity

With normal nail polish, I am terrible at keeping my nails away from things until they dry completely. I touch my hair so often that sometimes I forget after I do my nails and there will be hairline imprints across them 🤦🏻‍♀️ With the Color Street nail strips, you don't have to worry about dry time at all! Something that I noticed though is that whenever I wash my hair, some strands get caught at the edges of the nail strips and would lift the entire thing off! A lot of times though I just press it back down and it's fine until next time...

You can remove the nail strips with typical nail polish remover. Because I don't care about my nails, I usually just chip them off, but don't be like me, okay? One of my friends told me she tried to remove the glittery ones with nail polish remover and it wouldn't budge! I would say that the lasting power of these nail strips are very good and better than nail polish, especially since the nail strips have built in base and top coats.

Did these in 15 minutes. Not bad, right?

Overall, I would recommend these if you:

1. Don't have the patience to paint your nails or are really bad at it

2. Want to try really cool designs without breaking the bank for a manicure

3. Like to stay inside and typically do your nails yourself
