Let The Candles Fall Where They May

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Yay this week has finally started feeling like fall! I love warm weather, but I've been getting pretty tired of blasting the AC all the time. I bought a pile of new sweaters during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (review to come later!) and I'm so ready for sweater weather! This past weekend, I brought out my fall/winter candles and switched them out with my spring/summer ones. Yes, you heard that correctly. My candle collection has built up to a point that I don't have enough room to put them all on display anymore, so I have to keep it seasonal.
This year, I've been particularly excited to use my fall candles for some reason. Maybe because summer has felt like it lasted forever, and with COVID-19, we couldn't go outside and didn't get much of a summer anyway. It killed the vibe and I wasn't really in the mood to light my beach and margarita scented candles because I would get major FOMO.
I have been hoarding candles for almost a decade now, and to prevent this review from going on forever, I scoured the internet to find the general consensus for the best fall Bath and Body Works candles and narrowed it down to four, plus my all-time favorite! And, Bath and Body Works has a candle sale at $14.50 per 3-wick candle. If the sale is over, don't worry! Just wait a few days; I'm sure it'll come back 😊

Leaves
Rating: A
A cult favorite. The scent actually took a few years to grow on me, but now it has become one of my favorites! My first impression was that it smells really strong but with notes of crisp red apple, golden nectar, and warm clove spice, this candle has a true fall scent. A little nutty, a little spicy, this scent reminds me of cuddling up with a cozy blanket in front of a fire with a hot cup of cider.
Pumpkin Pecan Waffles
Rating: D-
This candle is vom. Even though it is also a classic, it's one of those sickly sweet ones. If I wanted my house to smell like that, I'd rather just bake a batch of cookies. Then it doesn't linger as long, and you get delicious cookies to nom on. Not giving it an F because you can probably use it at an open house or something, when you're trying to force a sense of comfort into your home. Contains notes of maple syrup, golden waffles, pumpkin spice, and brown sugar. I think I got diabetes just from writing that.
Pumpkin Apple
Rating: B
The perfect fall pairing. You can smell both pumpkin and apple in this candle, but it's weird. Some days I smell more pumpkin, and other days I smell more apple. Similar to leaves, it smells like fall. This candle isn't for those with sensitive noses though. It typically smells spicier, but in my opinion, the apple scent cuts the spiciness pretty nicely and can be quite enjoyable for a warmer ambiance!
Sweater Weather
Rating: A-
This was also once a cult favorite but for some reason, the hype has died down on this one. I still enjoy it though, with its crisp scent and freshness. It contrasts the typical spicy fall scents really well with notes of fresh sage, juniper berry (whatever that is), "aromatic" eucalyptus, and fresh woods. This candle is actually a great transition candle for fall/winter, because it is reminiscent of cold weather, and preps you for those pepperminty wintery days.
Harvest Gathering
Rating: A+
I grab a new one of these every year because this is my all-time favorite, and I'm a sucker for the new designs that get released. This scent is similar to Leaves, as the scent is very reminiscent of fall. The major differences that I notice is that Harvest Gathering is a little lighter, and has a slight crisp/mintiness scent that seems to be layered on top, with notes of fresh picked apple, autumn berries, and clove buds.
This design was released several years ago and still remains my fave!
With fall rolling in, I kicked it off by lighting one of my Harvest Gathering candies this week! Bath and Body Works also released a few new scents this year. I hear the Pumpkin Spice Latte is a good one. I may need to take advantage of this sale and buy-I mean, smell some candles tomorrow...
